Safety
Commitment to Safety
At Banner, we strive to be a truly safe place – physically and emotionally – where children explore new skills with confidence. We believe that safety is a basic camp responsibility.
Staff Training and Orientation
Banner Day Camp staff members complete extensive training in health and safety as well as best practices in leading and caring for children. Our orientation is a week-long, in-person experience preparing camp staff with all the skills necessary for a successful summer at camp. Staff also participate in regular staff meetings after camp throughout the summer to brush up on these skills.
In-depth Hiring Process
Banner Day Camp staff members are the very best of the best. All staff have in-depth, in-person interviews each year. In addition, multiple references are required and background checks are completed prior to officially being offered a position at camp.
3:1 Camper Counselor Ratio
An unparalleled camper-to-counselor ratio of approximately three campers per staff member assures personalized attention every day.
Unsurpassed supervision
Leadership Team members are present at all activities to bring professional experience and supervision to all aspects of camp.
Registered nurses on grounds daily
Banner’s on-site infirmary is staffed with registered nurses.
Highest safety standards
All of our equipment and facilities measure up to the highest safety standards
Only when children are protected and secure, can we start thinking about ways to grow and have fun!
